“Computer graphics are graphic created using computer and
the representation of image data by a computer specifically with help from
specialized graphic hardware and software.” In our life, we can see computer
graphic in everywhere, like two-dimensional graphic, pixel art, vector
graphics, three- dimensional and computer animation.
In this blog, I will talk about Google SketchUp in Computer
Graphic. On the April 15, 2006, Google
SketchUp announced on the market, it is free downloadable software and open source
software to design 3D models in computer graphic. Google sketchUp marked
officially as Trible SketchUp, is a 3D modeling application for civil, film,
architectural, mechanical and video game design. In this semester, I also get
chance to use this software in my CS100W STEM module team project. It has less
functionality then SketchUp Pro, but it is totally enough for my project in
this semester. In Google SketchUp, the major advantage is that most users can learn
how to operate the program within hours of first using. Since it is open source
to us, so we can plugin any 3D models downloaded from online. If you download
the new version of the Google SketchUp 8 there have couple new features have
updated, such as add location button, Google Building Maker Button, solid
tools, and layout 3.
After I done with my CS100W project in this semester, I just
feel like Google sketchUp is a very powerful open source for the people who
like to draw some computer graphics in the field of civil, film, architectural,
mechanical and video game design. It is easy and powerful.

Very interesting article on Google Sketchup. We learn that computers use specialized graphic hardware and software to create graphics and represent image data. They have made it easier to interact and understand computer and interpretation of data. Many media have revolutionized animation, movie and the video game industry because of computer graphic development. Google has made it easy on creating Sketchup software that is free download. People have used this product in different fields such as Architectural Design and Visualization, Interior design, Product design, and Rendering and Presentations.
ReplyDeleteI highly agree with you that Google Sketch is a magic tool for 3D modeling in an very intuitive way. It is easy to study in a short time while powerful enough to produce some magic model with even the free edition. Your blog provide a good introduction to the first time user of Google Sketch. I guess further discussion about how google sketch can do this magic work with kinds of software techniques will be a plus to this article for professional reader.
ReplyDeleteInteresting post! For a while I was really into 3D graphics and I did a lot of 3D modeling rendering and even some animation. 3D graphics still a really awesome subject to me. I use Autodesk Maya thought. It is pretty awesome what one can do whit 3D graphics and I'm intrigued to know more about the main algorithms used in 3D graphics software. Something I really enjoy when I used to do 3D art was UV mapping. If you are able to manipulate well the textures you can get really cool renders. Anyways, good post overall!
ReplyDeleteI still remember using Google SketchUp fro the first time when I was in High School. It was something very easy to use. It was made to be very intuitive, and easy for anyone to pick up and create a complicate model from this application. Now that I haven't use it for several year, there are probably several functions features that I haven't seen that make it more powerful and easy to use. I also didn't know that it is now open source. I should go back and give it a try.
ReplyDeleteHey, Chilie. I like how you used the knowledge gained from our project to write about Google Sketchup! I agree that sketchup is a very powerful tool and I am glad that we used it in our modules. Anyone interested in learning more about this powerful tool can view our tutorials on the Jay Pinson STEM youtube channel!
